　"情歌迷死人"的作曲者之所以寫出這首作品，是因為他在某個偶然的機會，於一家pub聽到了唐麥克林(Don McLean，曾寫出Vincent, America Pie等經典名曲)在台上以吉他自彈自唱的動人歌聲而為之傾倒，從此成為他的歌迷，經常到現場點歌、聆賞，後來並寫出了這首歌，描述他第一次聽唐麥克林唱歌的情景。
　而這首歌經由人女歌星羅貝塔佛蕾克的詮釋，也成為一首傳誦一時的抒情佳作，只是一般歌迷多不曉得這首歌的背景乃是樂壇的一段佳話。
